The only thing bigger than Super Bowl odds right now is the Mark McGwire story, as the slugger finally admitted that he was taking steroids over the later part of his career. Does the apology matter?

I’m saying no, because, quite frankly, it took far too long for this to come out. Anyone with two eyes and a knowledge of the human body could see that McGwire was taking something. He says he was taking it to heal quicker from injuries, but he really hasn’t acknowledged that it had an effect on his play. That is a simply outlandish statement. Taking the steroids allowed McGwire to heal more, which allowed him to hit more homers. He also started hitting them more frequently, and longer, culminating in a 70-homer season in 1998. So to say that they didn’t affect his performance is, essentially, a lie.

Now, all that is needed is for guys like Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa to come clean with their admissions. In this day and age, I don’t think that it’s even a big deal anymore. Alex Rodriguez played like a guy without weight on his shoulders this season after he came clean, and it ended in a World Series ring. Someone should take that list and make some bookmaker odds (bookmaker reviews) for a prop.

ina eb _ lippers didn’t help themselves, shooting 55% from the line. This should be a closer game than before, but the Clippers are 5-10 on the road as of Tuesday, and West Coast teams have problems with the time change.

Super Bowl XLIII betting players will never forget this amazing play from last year’s game:

Now, who will be this year’s David Tyree? The easy answer is Arizona’s Larry Fitzgerald, who already owns the record for most receiving yards in a postseason, and there is still one game left. Pittsburgh’s Hines Ward is another candidate, but he is a bit banged up. So, DH is counting on the Cardinals’ Steve Breaston and the Steelers’ Limas Sweed to make a big play for their teams. Breaston, a second-year player, has stepped up this season to make Anquan Boldin expendable, while Sweed is a rookie who would love nothing more than to make amends for the open pass he dropped in Pittsburgh 23-14 win over Baltimore that would have surely went for a touchdown. Of course, he tried to make up for it on the very next play:

Watch out for these young guns. You never know, they could play a massive part in the Super Bowl XLIII betting outcome.

Super Bowl XLIII betting odds are favoring the Steelers on February 1st, and their history in the “Big Game” shows why Pittsburgh fans are looking for another title. The Steelers are 5-1 in six Super Bowl appearances, and one more will put them in first place for most Super Bowl wins in the NFL’s history, breaking a tie with San Francisco and Dallas.

Players who will be looking at Pittsburgh Steelers odds will be focusing on their No.1-ranked defense, led by Defensive Player of the Year James Harrison, while Troy Polamalu has become more than a run-stopper, posting a career-high seven picks during the regular season.

However, if the Steelers want to taste victory, they will need a sterling performance from Ben Roethlisberger, who hasn’t been picked off yet during the Steelers’ two playoff games. A turnover-free Roethlisberger usually leads to a Pittsburgh victory, and he will need to be on point against an Arizona offense that has been very opportunistic during their amazing postseason run. Super Bowl betting history shows the favorites usually come up big, but the Steelers better not underestimate Arizona.

DH thinks he’s woken up in some kind of alternate universe. Seeing Arizona in the Super Bowl XLIII odds is kind of…..well, earth-shattering (DH was going to put $20 on the Cardinals at the beginning of the year, and didn’t, but that’s for another day).

Super Bowl XLIII Betting has the Cardinals as 7-point underdogs to win the NFC’s second straight Super Bowl, but they will be making their first-ever appearance in the “Big Game”, as opposed to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are 5-1 in their six Super Bowl appearances. Most of the Cardinals have never been here, but in Kurt Warner, they have a Super Bowl-winning quarterback, and he proved with a brilliant line in their 32-25 win over Philadelphia in the NFC title game that he can rise to the occasion. But they have to be worried about Anquan Boldin’ s argument with offensive coordinator Todd Haley late in the Philadelphia game, and having a bitter Boldin could throw an unwanted wrench into the Cardinals’ Super Bowl XLIII odds.

Ten years ago today, Michael Jordan retired, leaving the Chicago Bulls for the second time. Now, we won’t discuss the Washington Wizards-era Jordan, that doesn’t count.

The list of accomplisments is astounding: six NBA titles with matching NBA Finals MVPs, , five MVP awards, 10x NBA First-team, 9x Defensive-team selection as well as a Def. Player of the Year award, three All-Star MVPs in 14 appearances…..I could fill this whole blog with his awards. But this is about Jordan, the influence.

As far back as 1993 with Grant Hill, people having calling up-and-coming ballers “the next Jordan”. Look at today’s game: LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade and company all grew up watching Jordan and tried to emulate his game. He was also one of the first, if not the first, to become a brand all his own when he joined forces with Nike in 1985.

Now, MJ is the co-owner of a Charlotte team with no NBA betting chance to make the playoffs, and the Bulls would probably take Jordan back at his current age to boost their NBA betting chances. But that’s neither here nor there. Throw up a salute to the best who ever did it, and the man to take the NBA to the next level.

Well, the farce that is the BCS will crown its champion on Thursday night as No.1 Oklahoma and No.2 Florida go head-to-head in Miami, and the SEC champion Gators are 5-point favorites according to BCS championship odds. Utah, Texas and USC have the best shouts at being ignored for the title game, especially the Utes as they are the only undefeated team in the country and beat four ranked teams, including a thorough beating of Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.

Thursday’s game will come down to defense, and Florida’s is a bit better than Oklahoma. The last two Heisman winners, Tim Tebow of Florida and Sam Bradford of Oklahoma, will have their hands full in this contest, but it’s looking to be another national title for Florida, its second in three years.

And your BCS champion is:

Argue it. I dare you.

All four road teams were NFL playoff betting favorites last weekend, and only two came away with victories. Here’s a quick look at how that happened:

Arizona 30 Atlanta 24 - Big plays paved the way for the Cardinals, with two pass plays of 40 yards or more, combined with a fumble recovery for a score. Still, great year for the Falcons and Offensive Rookie of the Year Matt Ryan.

San Diego 23 Indianapolis 17 (OT) - The more Philip Rivers wins, the more I want to punch him in the throat. He’d better buy Darren Sproles a Benz for Saturday’s performance.

Baltimore 27 Miami 9 - The Ravens tamed the Wildcat offense for the second time this year, forcing five turnovers, including two picks by Ed “The Beast” Reed (not his real nickname, but he’s a beast)

Philadelphia 26 Minnesota 14 - Any team with Tarvaris Jackson as your starting quarterback has no business in the playoffs, much less winning a game. Maybe if they bench him like Philly did to Dononvan McNabb…..oh wait, they tried that already. Better hit that free-agent market, Vikings brass.
